sunday night fever

Sunday and I had the chance to grab these movies from Video City. Four of them actually, and all for "overnight." So I watched all three till early morning the next day. I had to return the other one or I would be penalized, again! I'm tired of paying unreasonable fees. WTF!

And, I also bought Imelda and The Perfect Man for P50 each. A very good buy. I feel so lucky that day. haha!

Jeremy Sisto

Rockwell Falls is a small town with only a population of 436, and that has been that for the last 100 years. Tradition has it that if the population exceeds to that number something tragic is coming to them. So they would kill anyone from their group if there would be new addition, like a visitor (in this story's case). And to keep the number "in tact" one from their group has to "honorably" sacrifice herself. Weird tradition, really. The film is good.

Walk the Line

Reese Witherspoon, Joaquin Phoenix

I watched it at past 12am this morning, and the lack of sleep i got was worth it.

Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, Selma Blair

It is a good movie. Only it is so predictable. The scenes in the ship where the lepers are are really good. Remind me of Titanic. hehe

I made myself a new blog, so I can read its content, which I've been dying to do, through Google's cached whatever. That's all for myself :)

status

I'm currently having a good time!

That videohouse' owner was asking P180, for all three VCDs nga na overdue. Fine, get your pirated VCDs, and I'm out! I did not pay, of course! ggrrrrrrr...

I haven't watched a single movie this week. I love it.

I told you I'm having a good time.

Blah blah of the day

Paul Giamatti, Bryce Dallas Howard (the lady)

This is definitely not scary. Well, save for a few scenes. Aw mascared nalang pud ka kay nascare man imong tupad. Ambot sad atong water sprinklers nila oi, kuyaw man kaayo'g sound effects. yez, naniudto nako!

The story may not be that amazing, but the way the cameras are panned (however you say that) is brilliant. M. Night must have known he is making a dull movie that is why he lets his cameras move with the characters.

You may fall asleep (I did more than once) in the middle of this movie but the many movements and sound effects will always bring you back to where you actually are.

It's either my bad day or not my lucky day. whatever.

First, I can't open my yahoo account (why?). Second, I don't know how to upload more songs into my ipod (when did i know it!), and bec I forced myself to do it I accidentally deleted some of my favorite songs (huhuhu!). Third, I stepped on my glasses (fortunately I did not break them, nahiwi lang. tsk!). Fourth, I was fined P70 for the three VCDs that I rented a few weeks ago. Overdue, my ass! Sus! maayo sad isumbong sa VRB ah, pirated ra ba tawn to! Lastly, I'm broke! (huh!)

Now, that's what you call tragedy. It's probably bec I did not pass a text message I received this morning that says, "you'll have good luck if you pass it around. otherwise, blah blah..." or something to that effect. Or I don't know. I'm tired of thinking. Anyway, it's quite "enjoying" (lala-lala-la) to have some of these things (bad or baddest) around to remind me that I'm still a part of this world, that I have a life. Whew! What a cool reminder.

movies of the week

I wish I could have done more.

Inside Man

Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster

A bank robbery set up, with several people as hostages but dressed like the robbers -suits, masks and all. Everyone goes out unscathed (and free), including the bank robbers. It's a clever film. It's unpredictable. It's great.

Death Tunnel

For whatever reason, five crazy girls allowed themselves to be locked up in an abandoned hospital where 63,000 people died from a "white plague" disease. It would have been exciting had the film centered on the "ghosts" of those thousands of people who died. But instead, it focuses on the unhappy ending of a "love story" of a nurse, who had an affair with the hospital's owner/doctor. Killed herself and her babay, and, yez, had her revenge on the five girls, who later on discover they are, in a way or another, connected to people who died there. But the place, with its eerie look, is a perfect setting.

The Tunnel, under the hospital where more bodies were hidden, would have been a good setting too. But, the director did not know it. Too bad.

if i had a chance to speak, i write

Sam. I like him in that Close-up commercial, watching that cute girl (she looks familiar, basin silingan ni namo sa una. hmm...)doing some crazy stunts.

But what is Jecca doing in his life. Gurl, explain before I have the time to kill you!

---

And so, here I am again. Tired but smiling :D

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Laura Linney, Jennifer Carpenter

Not that scary. But I like the treatment of the story. There's some sense into it, unlike most horror films filled with horrible scenes (and goosebumping musical backgound, which the director, thank goodness, has not indulged in this film) that are just horrible. Oh, what can you expect!

Anyway, for the first time in the history of my movie watching, I was so engrossed with a film, I forgot I was supposed to take a bite of my puto. hehe!

---

The Nun

The trailer is promising, but the movie is just soooo bad.

---

The Count of Monte Cristo

James Caviezel (Count of Monte Cristo), Guy Pearce, Richard Harris

Why it took me so long to see this film, I dunno. But one thing's for sure, either I did not have the money or a companion when it was out in the cinemas. Tsk!

This is great!

Hidalgo

The copy of this film had been in my drawer for a long time. I only pulled it out last week as there was nothing else to watch. And the film is good.

things i love to hate

If this would be the pair in this year's Superman franchise I'd sure watch it. But no, they are only good in Smallville, the TV series, too bad. I know, Kristin Kreuk is not Lois Lane, so she could not possibly play Clark's love interest in this movie, which is a big TSK! And Tom Welling is not Clark Kent here, another sad thing. Moreso, I don't like Kate Bosworth playing Lois Lane in this movie. And that Brandon Routh in the lead, whew! just not my idea of a Man of Steel. It's just as well, I'm not a fan of Superman, I'm more on pikachu and winnie the pooh.
While everyone was watching it I was busy eating in a mall, where the movie's theme echoed like shit. Whoa! I mean is it wrong to hate shopping?!!

---

By the way, Pacman won in yesterday's fight. Good for him, too bad for me. I lost a hundred worth of burger and coke bec of that fight, I never got to see. I don't like boxing, y'know.
