Barack Obama

i was one of those many Filipino people who stayed glued to the tv set the entire night to witness the 44th American President to be sworn in to office. that was actually the first time i watched an inauguration of a foreign leader, along with millions of other non-American citizens all over the world. sometimes, i helps being an insomniac. lol!

studio 23 gave a live coverage of the event, plus factual views and analysis of the historic ceremony from the anchors. well, except for ces drilon. with her stupid commentaries and questions, she was not helping the show at all. glad she left before the real event.

anyway, i already mentioned Obama in my march 2008 post. that was quite a long time ago. now he is the president of the most powerful country in the world.

with this new vigor America has now that it just welcomed its new leader without protest, it is possible change will happen, like Obama promised. that's america.

and this is the Philippines:

the flag above is from a tugboat used during the fluvial procession last saturday, jan17,'09. are we this poor already?

Not a supporter of Obama. I don't understand why Filipinos feel compelled to make the choice between McCain and Obama. I got people coming up to me, asking me that, and yes, while I do understand that the world is getting smaller everyday and international relations is the new messiah, I haven't gone so far as to stay riveted by the admittedly enthralling occurrence. He is a charismatic individual and he is clever with words, but he is inexperienced and if you listen to his speeches, he never does offer precise solutions to his country's existential malaise. His future plans? All hopeful and pleasing to the ears, but nothing practicable. I hope to god he is a good president for his country (because a strong America is good for our country's trade). And I hope to god he chooses good advisers, because he needs their advice more than ever.

I'm not expecting a fast turnaround now that he is in position. It will probably take years. I'll be patient.

sosyal ang comment ni mama jute! hahaha! i was working that night so i unfortunately did not see the historic event unfold. all i know is he has a real great voice and he really should be a celeb than a leader. hahaha!!! :P then i have more reason to drool over him. lol!

lagi! gisunggo kaha ko aning iyang comment, ya. hahaha! hi mam! =)

my comment to the comment now...i think when youre embattled and all, you need someone who can give you comfort. and fortunately, obama was quick to give that to the americans. they actually voted with their hears. =) moapil sad ta ko ato... heheheh

in fairness niya, mam, he did not promise to effect change asap. basin gani kuno mahuman nalang iyang termino, di gihapon kay it's not just his fight...

"because a strong America is good for our country's trade." you bet. this is why we feel compelled to make the choice too. =)

magbeach na lang ta uy!

somehow, i knew he would win. he has too many followers. and he has star power. plus, he's got novelty on his side.

but, now that the elections are over, there still remains a big question -- what now?

im pretty sure america is in good hands now. =)

I'm giving Obama the benefit of the doubt here. You, as defender of his better virtues, are supposed to reinforce that with an argument that does not proceed from mere gut feeling. :)

mam, nagnosebleed na jud ko nimo hap! hahahha...

accdg to gov. grace padaca of isabela: "winning is the easiest thing, governing is difficult."

im sure obama is in that situation now. but americans have always been known for understanding their choices and for taking charge of their country's development. this is regardless of who sits in the white house.

now, let's give obama his first 100days of ofice first. then we argue after that. lol!

di na ko uy! hahahahha
