Die now, die tomorrow, same die, you know.

President Arroyo just signed a law abolishing the death penalty. The lives of the death convicts are now spared. Or are they?

A few days before she signed that bill, five inmates of Bagong Buhay Rehabilitaion Center died from electrocution. No, not in the electric chair. The cell, where these five were housed, got in contact with a live wire that killed them.

Convicts, of whatever crimes, are not actually spared from death after all. Those who died were not even sentenced to die, but they did.

Getting zapped by live wire while sleeping is just among the many things Filipino inmates are facing while being "rehabilitated." The live ones, while serving their term or worse, waiting for their sentence to be carried out, are facing these problems. Let's name some: food poisoning, riots, and diseases. This is how our country "rehabilitates" the criminals and the suspected criminals.

So are the death convicts thankful for such move? I cannot know.

But, one thing is for sure, either they will eventually die while serving their terms or they will still die when they come out from the rehabilitation centers. Especially when they are in Cebu. We have vigilantes here, everyone knows that.

So good luck. Die now, die tomorrow, same die, you know.

But, at least I've got an ipod shuffle already. Good grief yeah.

whatever

The Lake House

Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock

Their line--"How do you hold on to someone you've never met?" It's like you found the one you were meant for... but you lived 2 years apart?

You can connect this film with our own Moments of Love (Dingdong and Iza). This is also a remake of Il Mare. But I must say this one has more mystery than Moments (can't say about Il Mare I haven't seen it). I was still puzzled when I got out of the movie theater. Had there been no other commitment that Saturday afternoon(I was already late for it) I would have stayed a little longer to really understand the story.

Nevertheless, it is a good portrayal of two people in love. And, Ate Sandra never seems to grow old, and Keanu is still yummy. haha! They are just great together!

Ate Sandra has something to say about this film...

"The fact that the studio said let’s try something unique and everyone got on board out of passion for the project… It’s not like one of these big money blockbuster things. You don’t take the money. Everyone sacrifices and gets into the project. It’s so worth it.”

I just came home from the beach, diri ra gud sa Talisay. Some childhood friends were here after so many years of being away. And it was high time we get together and the beach was the perfect place. It was already dusk when we packed our things. But we (okay ako!) had to wait Kelly Clarkson to finish belting out Because of You. haha! adik!

It's amazing how we have grown so fast, our age and all, but our habits are still the same. We drink beer, but we must have a drinking glass each. In our company, one can never appreaciate the magic (if there's any) of tagay. And the coke must be around always, coz each has a habit of pouring into her drink a good amount of it. Maong tam-is among beer. haha!

Then it was over. I mean when Kelly was over with her belting out Because of You (twice in a row). I'm sure those near us already knew the lyrics of the song because they were already humming it when we left. haha!

Thank you beach. You never fail to amaze me with your therapeutic sight and ambience. You bring me closer to the people I call friends. You bring me back to my senses. And now that I am quite far away from you I'm back to my being me-crazy. Help!

someone's gotta say

Why do girls say "sakit ako tyan" when what they actually mean is "pus-on." Lain biya nang kalibangon sa gi-dysmenorrhea, di ba? Ambot ninyo girls!

Meanwhile, someone's got a headache.

Julianne Moore, Christopher Kovaleski

Another movie best forgotten.

Robert De Niro, Dakota Fanning

A case of Multiple Personality Disorder gone more disorderly. That's just abou it, not much luck for real horror these days. Tsk!

I've seen this one already but I wanted to watch it again. I mean over and over and over again! Sandra Bullock (my Ate, who drives a Lincoln (?) in Murder by Numbers. wa lang!) is just amazing with her looks and the way she carries the scenes. And Hugh Grant, I don't know why I like his British accent. I think bec I love the Spicegirls. Haha!

Josh Hutcherson, Charlie Ray

Cute! I was giggling the entire time I was watching this and developed a headache for not eating my dinner.

This shot is from inside the "treasure bell." And this bell, about 500 lbs., was found last Monday in Lagundi Reef (where I exprerienced my first dive). Four-feet in height, 3.5 ft in diameter, over 100 years underwater, and I still have no idea (like all the others) when this was made. But, it is definitely a treasure. They believed there's a galleon or two (that could have transported that bell) submerged in that part of the sea. That is still what they are trying to find out. And I've already invited myself to join the search team. Haha! I'm excited!

In the photo: from the bell's hole (blasted off by a dynamite, perhaps) is scuba diver and "sea knight" Alfie (the one who taught me my free diving lesson) and this writer- wa tuyoa :P

bye to the Jewel

Last episode na siguro this Monday. I thought it was last night, I was almost ready to cry, but then the last part showed- "Abangan sa Lunes" I almost jumped for joy. haha! OA! I'm sorry, fan e ;)

This is one of the few TV shows I will never forget in my lifetime. I still have a vivid memory of that one show about a Korean child (I am not so sure about her nationality) i used to watch after dinner time when I was in high school. It was in channel 6, and because there was no advertisement the show never made it to its end. That was about a child who lost her parents and had a lil sibling she had to carry in her back while she made her way to other people's houses passing the thick snow to get some food or do some work for them (like heating the snow to turn into water). Very touching.

Sus! Bye nagud!

it's never a crime

St. Ange

Starring Virginie Ledoyen who plays a cleaning woman at the abandoned St. Ange orphanage in the remote part of French Alps in 1960. I watched it alone at one of the two moviehouses in a mall just a trike ride away from my place. I was feelin bored then. In its poster something like "demonic" thing about the film. Sounds exciting. Although I must admit I was praying the film would not really be that demonic. I would not want to scare other moviegoers, you know. But there was not much to scare anyway as there were only seven of us inside that theater, which I've never been in since it showed A Walk To Remember. And that movie is really not scary. But, it is good. I mean the sceneries. Old small castle used as the orphanage, the deserted hallways (creepy), the large common bath, etc.

But the et cetera does not include the story.

The story is bad. I don't get it why they have to kill the children...???

So many questions really.

But, at least the cinematography is passable. I like it when Ledoyen is nursing her newly-born (or freshly-dead, they both died e) infant in front of all the other dead kids. That pose, in all her nakedness, is just so artistic.

Okay, let's go to Final Destination 2.

Ali Larter, A.J. Cook, Michael Landes.

Hmm.. too much tragedy in a day. You don’t want a heart attack, do you? I’m suing the director. Haha! Anyway, this movie is definitely without sense. But if you want some death counting and gory scenes in every few minutes this may be it.

I did not like its prequel. I did not know why I watched this one. There's already a third part of it. Watch mo.

The Cave

I did not know why I watched it. I thought they were gonna be lookin for treasures, not to have themselves fed by those whatever creatures. One word for this film: stupid! Next please.

Stealth

Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel, Jamie Foxx

Watched it last night. No comment.

The Ring 2

Second time. Moomoo that walks like Samara is really scary.

Beautiful Boxer

I sooo love this movie! So simple yet so powerful.
